Legislation has changed on The smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm regulations.

• Carbon monoxide alarms should be installed in all rented accommodation and new build properties, wherever there is a fixed combustion appliance, other than gas appliances used solely for cooking.   These are simple to install and prices can range from £20 to £80 depending on the brand and the functions.  If you are unsure on the make and model you require, or you would like someone to install them for you, we can supply and fit alarms here at ACL Plumbing. 

• Smoke alarms are to be fitted on each storey of their homes, where there is a room used as living  accommodation. 

• Landlords are responsible to repair or replacement smoke and CO alarms if informed or found they are faulty.  

• Alarms are to conform with BS EN 50291-1:2018 and be a type 'A' alarm powered by a battery designed to operate for the working life of the alarm.  Alarms with fixed wiring may also be used provided they are fitted with a sensor failure warning device.
