Bathing your dog this winter

Our dog loves to run around and explore when we take him out for a walk, if there is a stream or brook he will dive into it, a muddy puddle he’ll run through it, a fox @**%, well if you know you know!

During the winter, this can make things tough as I don’t enjoy cleaning my bathroom after my Shar Pei has shaken his muddy wet fur all over the place.  And anyone with a Shar Pei will know, they also malt a lot, which can block up the plug.

During the summer, I would hose him off in the garden, no problem.  However, as the cold started to set in, I didn’t feel right showering my “peiby” outside.

I didn’t have the space (or money) to install a wet room downstairs just for the dog, so I asked the engineers at ACL Group Ltd if there was anything I could create outside to solve the problem. It was simple, they installed a hot feed to my outside tap so I have warm water outside to shower those muddy paws off.

My research taught me that if the outside temperature does drop below 7 degrees then it is too cold to be showering him outside, so I will have to consider this during the colder days of winter.  However, for now, both my Shar Pei and I are happy with our warm shower in the garden.
